Milan, Oct. 22, 2025 – Mountain meets city. On Sunday, November 16, 2025, Mount Stella, a landmark for Milanese runners and known to all as “Montagnetta di San Siro,” will host the first edition of Milan UP! – Mountain in the City – Winter Edition , the new sports format that brings the energy and spirit of high altitude racing to Milan.
The initiative is sponsored by the City of Milan and included in the “Italy of the Games” program, with which Milan Cortina 2026, in collaboration with CONI and CIP, wants to celebrate throughout the country the presence of the 2026 Italian Olympics and Paralympics.
The event is held in collaboration with the Italian Running Festival, where it will be possible to pick up the race packet on Saturday, November 15 from 10:30 a.m. at the Milan UP! booth located inside the Festival, at Morel – Via Privata Gradisca 18, Milan.
Pickup will also be possible on the morning of November 16, from 8 a.m., before the race. The booth will remain open throughout the day.
Lorenzo Spada, founder of Spada Media Group and partner of the event for all the communication part, commented, “With Milan UP! we want to bring the energy and beauty of mountain racing to the city, transforming Mount Stella into a place of sport, fun and meeting for everyone. It is an inclusive project, able to unite athletes, families and citizens, putting at the center not only the race, but also the values of sociality and participation.” Spada Media Group is the partner that takes care of the entire communication of the event, helping to enhance its identity and dissemination on all channels.
City of Milan Councillor for Sport Martina Riva said: “Milan UP! brings the spirit of the mountains to the heart of the city, transforming Mount Stella into a natural arena for those who love to test themselves and share their passion for sports. It is an event that enhances one of Milan’s iconic outdoor sports venues and enhances its participatory, inclusive and sustainable dimension. In the run-up to the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics and Paralympics, initiatives like this remind us how much sport can unite, inspire and build community. Milan continues to distinguish itself as the capital of events capable of combining well-being, sociality and respect for the environment: here, sport is not only competition, but also culture and belonging.”
Three distances for all
The event is designed to engage a diverse audience-from novices to experienced athletes-with three different trials:
- 5 km, for beginners who want to test their legs on an accessible yet challenging course;
- 10 km, for those who love gradients and want to experience the thrill of a continuous run between ascents and descents;
- 20 km American-style, the most intense challenge: a dynamic, adrenaline-fueled formula that will test legs and breath, providing excitement down to the last meter.
The course, entirely within the Monte Stella Park, is on a 2.5-kilometer circuit to be repeated several times (2 laps for the 5 km, 4 for the 10 km and 8 for the 20 km), offering participants the unique experience of running immersed in urban nature, without any road sections.
A village of sports, families and solidarity
