LA7 is a generalist television channel owned by Cairo Communication, broadcast on digital channel 7 and aimed at a very broad target. Born in the 70s as Telemontecarlo, in the 2000s it took on the appearance it still has today, with in-depth programs such as Bersaglio Mobile, Otto e mezzo and Piazzapulita, and entertainment such as Propaganda Live. The channel information passes through TG LA7 and its director Enrico Mentana; there are also numerous series broadcast on the net, such as Star Trek and Grey’s Anatomy. The average share of the channel is around 4% but can also count on affiliated channels such as LA7d, whose main catchment area is that of the female audience.

    The main programs on La7 are:

    TG LA7

    The channel’s news program is TG LA7, broadcast since the 2000s with three extended editions during the day and a 10-minute night event, managing to reach more than 1,080,000 average viewers in its best range. The editor of the magazine is Enrico Mentana, host of the 8:00 pm edition as well as the specials on the occasion of social and political events. Le Maratone di Mentana are very popular, above all because the long direct ends only when a result is reached, in the case of electoral votes therefore up to the count. Among the columns Omnibus News, which offers a morning press review, while Coffee Break deals with the issues of the day with the presence of guests in the studio.

    Otto e mezzo 

    From Monday to Saturday, in the access prime time slot, Lilli Gruber leads Otto e mezzo, the historic information and in-depth program as well as the spearhead of the LA7 schedule with approximately 7,6% share. On air since 2002, the program deals with the main themes of the week thanks to the interaction with guests, prominent personalities in the political world and beyond. The interviews and debates that take shape during the episode enrich the daily appointment, together with “Il punto” by the journalist Paolo Pagliaro, the fixed editorial appointment.


    The political program conducted by Giovanni Floris diMartedì offers, in the form of a talk, a reference appointment for information in the early evening. The episodes are opened by a satirical cover, introduced for years by Maurizio Crozza and subsequently by other comedians such as Luca and Paolo; in the studio numerous guests and recurring journalists, including Concita De Gregorio and Corrado Augias. Thanks to the topics covered, broadcast through packaged services and surveys, and to the personalities present, the program was able to reach peaks of share that reached 14%.

    Propaganda Live 

    Another topical and political program of the channel is Propaganda Live with Diego Bianchi. Aired on Friday and geared towards a younger target, the program presents the highlights of the week through interviews with the protagonists of the political scene, live music offered by the band, news reports and moments of satire. The journalists present as regular guests are Marco Damilano, director of L’Espresso, and Paolo Celata, of TG LA7, but space is also left for Makkox comics and the world of the web and social media, in fact tweets and interactions are often broadcast.
